This bug was reported in Ubuntu's Launchpad:
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/openoffice.org/+bug/384295

"Howard says:
When converting open office document containing graphics, the graphics no longer
appeared in the .doc formatted document. The conversion was done through the
Open Office Save As menu.

Chris says:
Can you please attach an example document exhibiting this problem?

Howard says:
OpenOffice document (3.0 MiB, application/vnd.oasis.opendocument.text)
Converted document (3.0 MiB, application/msword)
In order to see the problem, you have to close OpenOffice and then reopen the
.doc file. When initially doing the "save-as" the graphics still appear. They
are missing, however, when you reopen the .doc file.

Chris says:
When I open the document you attached, I can see illustrations 1 and 2, but
illustration 3 is missing. Curiously, when I looked at the original converted
document, one of the illustrations was still there but it's width had been
changed to zero.

I'm going to check tomorrow at work to see if the graphics are actually visible
when the document is opened in Microsoft Word.

I'm sorry, you are correct in that illustration 3 disappeared. Thanks for
catching that and letting me know.

This appears to be an ooo-build issue, as the official OOo 3.1 and dev300 m49
(OOo 3.2) don't export any of the pictures correctly at all. So ooo-build
partially fixed that issue but still has some bug causing illustration 3 not to
appear."
