I do not reproduce the problem with OOo 3.1.0 FR/US under Ubuntu 8.04.
The email client's Compose window appears when I click on button "Document as
E-mail" or menu File > Send > Document as E-mail.
Are you using the version of OOo provided by your Linux distribution or the
native version downloaded from OOo website ?
