Using RegMon, I monitored PDFPlus.exe (Nuance/Scansoft PDF Converter) accessing the Windows Registry. That programme appeared to crash directly after having enumerated - HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Fonts\ OpenOffice installs DejaVu fonts, but leaves them in the Fonts folder . PDF Converter (and associated tools) appears to work on deleting the DejaVu even after OpenOffice is uninstalled.
