I have tested it in different variations of smolejv's original as well as later descriptions, but cannot reproduce it under Debian SID AMD64 with OOO310m18. I have switched the automatic filename extension on and off, but to no avail ... :( And I seem not able to see, why you have reopened this issue ... :( If I try to overwrite an existing file, I get a warning, that this file already exists. And if I try to overwrite the original *odt file, I get this "Error while writing..." message, which I have mentioned on October 3rd.
