Here are the steps to reproduce the error:
1. A text document uses headings (styles "Heading 1", "Heading 2" etc.)
2. It is saved via Save as using "Microsoft Word 97/2000/XP" type.
3. When opened in MS Word 2000, these headings are indented - differently for
different levels (Level 1: 0,76 cm; level 2: 1,02 cm; level 3&4: 1,27 cm)
When I choose Format/Paragraph, these appear as hanging indents.

If I remove the hanging indent from the styles in the original OOo file and save
it as MS Word file and open it there, the indents are still there, but when I
click Format/Paragraph, no indentation is shown - although it appears on the
screen!
