When I tried to start scalc, it set up the lock file and then displayed an invitation to join the usage statistics collection program.(This however was hidden, so it was some time before I got to it and may have tried to restart scalc) After I joined the program, I still could not start scalc or swriter. I tried deleting the lock file, but this didn't help. I then attempted to reboot and a dialog box appeared asking me to forcibly end soffice.bin. When I did this, scalc started briefly as the machine was going down.
