I have detected the cause of the problem: Windowblinds from stardock !
If I unload windowblinds, all problems disappear.
However, OpenOffice is to date the single application showing incompatibility
with windowblinds.
The solution then for co-existence of the apps is to create an exception in
windowblinds to not perform skinning of OpenOffice applications.
