But this "three modes" approach was decided quite a while ago - there's some GullFOSS entry by Rüdiger where he explains this. Finally, it really doesn't matter whether we have 2 or 3 or 13 modes, as long as a simple environment variable allows you to switch. So, if you do not have strong objections, I will modify your patch so that the "normal" mode has some more output, again (but much less than before).
