------- Additional comments from [email protected] Fri Sep 18 03:09:55 +0000 2009 ------- Summary: When multiple sheets are selected in Calc and a cell is changed in the current sheet, that same cell is also changed in every other selected sheet. Follow my steps below for an example. Steps to duplicate problem: Open a new spreadsheet in Calc. Select Sheets 1&2 (click on the tab for Sheet1, hold the shift button down and click on the tab for Sheet2 -- DO NOT CLICK ON THE TAB FOR SHEET3 AT ALL). Now in Sheet1 cell A1, enter your family name. Click on the tab for Sheet2, and you will notice that cell A1 in Sheet2 has also been changed to your family name. If you change the value of A1 in Sheet2 to your given name and go back to Sheet1, you will notice that the value in Sheet1 is now changed to your given name. At this point, if you select Sheet3, all of the sheet selections are reset and you will notice that Sheet3 was never affected. Now if you click on Sheet2, it will be the only one selected. You can change cell A1 again, and since Sheet1 is not simultaneously selected, the value of cell A1 in Sheet1 will not change this time. This particularly becomes a problem when all of the existing sheets are selected simultaneously because it is much more difficult to reset the selection to a single sheet. The easiest way I found to deselect all of the sheets when they were all selected was to create a new sheet which is not really intuitive for the average user (Will file separate issue dealing with selection of multiple tabs). I tested this bug in Windows (which is the setting listed for this error report) and in Ubuntu 9.04 with the pre-installed packages for OpenOffice. The results were the same. Also when all of the tabs were selected and the document saved and stored in Excel officeXP file format, the same problems persisted in Excel. Recommendations: Ensure that when multiple tabs are selected and data entered, only cell contents from the sheet currently open on screen are changed. **I will file a second issue regarding the selection of multiple tabs** --------------------------------------------------------------------- Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker.
