OS: windows vista, home edition. 4GB RAM, 64 bit operating system. Intel to
duo processor.
OOo Version: 3.1

  Steps to recreate the issue:

1. Start impress.
2. Select the option “table” from the tool bar.
3. A window pops up asking to insert the number of rows and columns .
4. A Table appears on the slide.
5. select any one of the cell in a row.
6. clik on "split" option in the tool bar.
7. A small window opens up with 2 options which says, horizontally and
vertivally
8. select horizontally and click OK. notice that, the selected cell is divided
into two parts horizontally.
9. Now, select any one of the cell from the same row and click on "split"
option.
10. This time select vertically and click OK.
11. Now we observe that, instead the cell getting divided into two parts
equally, we see that the cell has been divided into three parts.

This can be a serious issue for customers who mainly depend on "split"
was able to replicate this bug in windows XP.

Have also tested this issue in Microsoft power point.
