@tkr: I do not find crypt.c. I assume that you mean unzip.c derived from 
crypt.c. Although "-I." is always placed as a very first include path, unzip.c 
is not compiled from zlib-1.1.4/contrib/minizip/ but first copied from zlib-
1.1.4/contrib/minizip/ to $(MISC), and compiled from $(MISC). Therefore, "-I." 
is not effective.

And you wrote you had no problem with GNU crypt installed on your system. But 
the situation may be different where in your system you installed GNU crypt.
