------- Additional comments from [email protected] Wed Oct 7 18:45:20 +0000 2009 ------- When using the Define Name feature to define an area in an external spreadsheet the formatting used for the path is incompatible with Excel. Calc is able to import the reference from Excel, however on reopenning the file in Excel after saving from Calc, the Name path is corrupted, as far as Excel is concerned. In the example below I am using a network path: Saved in Excel as : ='G:\Reference\[Reference Codes.xls]Project Codes'!$A$7:$B$222 Converted upon opening in Calc to : 'file:///G:/Reference/Reference Codes.xls'#$'Project Codes'.$A$7:$B$222 Result upon returning to Excel : =#REF! This is a critical feature in a critical document in my workplace; this compatibility bug inhibits our conversion to OO.
