Now I tried 1.9.93. The result is the same. Here is a list of
the things I did:

* download new version
* install: debian => copy the content via midnight commander
  from CONTENTS.cpio into /opt/openoffice.org1.9.X/
* Delete all old openoffice directories in the home directory
* start:   ./program/soffice
* do not import old data
* create new presentation via file -> new presentation
* click onto the create button (empty presentation)
* select layout for blank sheet via left click in
  task pane (e.g. title slide)
* right click on slides pane -> new slide
* select layout (e.g. title, text) from task pane (layout)
* enter some text into both slides
* view -> master -> slide master
* right click on slides pane
* now you see the same layout in both master slides
  select the second slide and resize (for example)
  the header and the body to see which master slide is
  applied
* click on close master view in master view pane/toolbar
(* save to test)
* select first slide -> select master pages in task pane
* double klick on the second master slide to apply it
* select second slide - double click onto the first master
  slide to apply it - double klick onto the second master
  slide to apply it => now the first master slide
  disappears
(* save to test2)
* also in the slide design selector (left click onto one slide
  in slides pane -> slide design) doesn't show the master design.
  And also the Master Page editor do so.

I also tried to use only the design selector (so no double click).
The result was the same. Also if I only use one slide as content
and two diffrent master designs the result is the same. It is
also independent to the user (root, normal user).

It seems to me, that if you select one design apply it and afterwards you
select another design (independent of which one you choose first)
for the same slide the disaster happens.

HTH, Joe

PS: If you want to have the two test files please say it.
