------- Additional comments from [email protected] Tue Oct 20 22:25:13 +0000 2009 ------- One of the features that I like about MS Excel is the ability to take all or part of a spreadsheet and make it print on one or more pages. I thought of an enhancement to this functionality. I would very much like to be able to define a printer template for a given spreadsheet file (this might be an external file for .xls spreadsheets.) When defining a template, one could select portions of a spreadsheet and essentially turn the sheet into a pachwork of rectangles which could then be selected (or not) and each selected rectangle would be printed on a page (or multiple pages). There should be an automatic orientation feature that would rotate and expend the spreadsheet sections to maximize their size on the printed page. It should be possible to override the auto-rotate and expand feature and even put two separate rectangles onto a single page. Each printable rectangle could be numbered within the template, and groups of rectangles could be sent to separate printers and paper trays (some to 8.5 x 11", some to 14" etc.) Once setup, the template could be saved and easily reloaded for further work. Of course it's easy to dream big (especially if I'm not trying to code all of this) but I think it would make spreadsheet printing far friendlier than what is offered by MS Excel and force Microsoft to have to try to catch up with Open Office. I hope these ideas are useful, and Thank You for considering them. -Preston |8-) [email protected] cell: (541) 941-4145 --------------------------------------------------------------------- Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker.
