Concerning "Expand formatting" the help says,
"If, for example, the contents of the selected cell have the bold attribute,
this bold attribute will also apply to adjacent cells. [..] You can see the
range in question by pressing the Ctrl + * (multiplication sign on the number
pad) shortcut."

For me the short cut Ctrl+* does always the same block selection independent of
the setting of "Expand formatting" in Tools > Options > Calc > General. So
either the functionality is broken or the help is wrong.

I have tried it with hard formatting and with cell style (always with automatic
spellcheck off because of issue 69715). I use DEV300m61 on WinXP.
