It's a common behavior in modern office suits to replace three dots (...) with
an ellipsis unicode character (…) via an Auto Correction feature. Same applies
for OpenOffice.org, however, in certain cases this behavior fails. If there
exists a space between text and three dots (example: "texttexttext …"), then
three dots are converted into the ellipsis char. In case there is no space
between text and three dots (example: "textexttext..."), then the Auto
Correction feature fails to convert three dots into the ellipsis unicode char.
