2009 -------
Currently the characters are painted on the screen / printer as OOo gets them
from the system/font.
The characters are wider then higher thus it seems there is more spacing in
horizontal layout. This must be calculated for every font and character if it
has a kind of blank left/right border in it.
Also, this cannot be changed due to backward compatibility.
