------- Additional comments from [email protected] Tue Nov 17 10:22:57 +0000 2009 ------- Normally, if one inserts a new section on a blank line, the section is inserted and one blank line, outside and below the section is added. This makes it possible to add text after the section. In this case, one can see that the new section is contained within the outer document container and outer container text can come both before and after the inserted section. I discovered that if the last line in the document contains text, and one inserts a section at the end of the last line (between the last character and the paragraph mark), the new section is added, but it is then not possible to add text to the outer document container below the section just created. I discovered this when attempting to create a page having a single column across the bottom and top of the page, but have a 2 column section in the middle of the page. I entered the top-of-the-page text, inserted a 2 column section at the end of the last line, entered text in the new 2 column section ... but then was unable to escape out the bottom of the new section back into the outer container to continue typing in 1 column mode. I tried working around this by inserting a new one-column section2 at the end of section1, but inspection of the section layout shows that section2 is actually contained inside section 1. This works, but doesn't really seem like the way things ought to work ... I ought to be able to insert text anywhere in the outer container ... including below a section contained in the outer container. (Which I can do if I insert a section on a blank line as described above). I found a work around. With the direct cursor enabled, I can click the cursor below the new section, and (if I don't click too close to the left margin), the entry point will be placed outside and after the new section. (If the section being escaped is multi-column, this work around is only reliable if columns are NOT being automatically balanced) Still ... even if you have outer container lines that occur after an embedded section ... if, in the course of editing, you delete all of the lines that follow the section, you won't be able to enter new lines after the (now at the end) section until you use the direct cursor trick. Bottom line ... it's possible to get a document in a state where it's not intuitively obvious how to add more text that follows a section that's been inserted at the end of the document. Seems like a bug to me ... albeit a minor one. The problem is most easily reproduced with paragraph marks visible. --------------------------------------------------------------------- Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker.
