I have found the following to be the case: Install OOo-Dev_OOO320_m4_Win32Intel_install_en-US using a "Complete" installation: NO CRASH Install OOo-Dev_OOO320_m4_Win32Intel_install_en-US using a "Custom" installation, deselecting Draw, Base and Math (as I had done): CRASH! So I ran a few experiments and finally narrowed it down to the "Base" component alone.
