It is a lame practice grant you but it is something that can be expected from MS. The original problem was when I first installed the beta OpenOffice failed to respond until I uninstalled the beta. OpenOffice responded immediately after uninstall of the beta. Then I try to duplicate the problem nearly ten hours later and the problem didn't crop up.
