------- Additional comments from [email protected] Mon Dec 28 18:34:37 +0000 2009 ------- I'm using OO 3.1.1. I added pictures in frames to a 1-page document. I saved the document as a DOC file and also created a PDF file. The next time I opened the document for editing, the pictures were either missing or distorted and shifted position. The frames displayed characteristics different from what I saved. The PDF file, however, opened perfectly. I had to redo adding the pictures to the document after editing some text. I saved it again as a DOC file and created another PDF file. The next time I opwned the DOC file, all the pictures were missing or distorted. As before, the PDF file was perfect. Apparently not all the characteristics of embedded frames and pictures in the document are saved, or read upon opening. I should also note that while creating and editing the document, the pictures frequently shifted and the characteristics of the pictures and frames would sporadically change. Sometimes the pictures would shift position, other times it was distorted or appeared overwritten by another picture. Distortions and overwrites could sometimes be fixed by scrolling the affect part of the document off the screen and back, or by closing and reopening the window - e.g. - refreshing the display. The way Writer handles pictures needs work. Thanks.
