I believe it could be a great usability improvement. The cut&paste experience in OpenOffice.org could be greatly enhanced, if it would be possible to drag object to the margins of the application window and drop it there. If one would like to use this snippet again, it could be just possible to draw it back into the document and drop it there. As it is alway easier to explain something with pictures, please see both attachments. The first is a mockup, how it could look like in Impress. The second picture is a photo of an old Apple Newton Messagepad which had this feature. And indeed, it was a very handy feature.
