------- Additional comments from [email protected] Thu Jan 21 15:14:53 +0000 2010 ------- In the user guide section entitled "Working with paragraph styles," the following statement appears: "Note that it is not possible to define tabulations that exceed the page margin. In the rare cases where it may be needed, use a borderless table instead." I think the need is much greater -- whenever there is a table of contents with multi-line individual entries and a dot leader to the page number (e.g., in almost all legal briefs). The workaround is ineffective when you're using a dot leader. BTW, Microsoft Word allows tabs to extend beyond the page margin. I don't see the problem in modifying OpenOffice to do the same.
