I am using OOo in Ubuntu on an HP Pavilion DV2000 series laptop with nVidia
graphics. I do not believe this is related to the nVidia driver issue, at least
the descriptions of those problems do not match mine.

This problem has plagued me from Ubuntu 8.04 (32-bit) using OOo 2.8 through 9.10
using OOo 3.1.1 and multiple documents.

When reading through large documents in Write, after an apparently random amount
of time, I will begin to lose sight of the end of a sentence/paragraph. The
height of the last line of the paragraph will be truncated (characters going
below the plane, such as g, q, p will have their tails cut off).

Navigating down with the arrow keys will not work. navigating down the problem
line will result in the cursor disappearing until the actual end of the sentence
is reached then reappear on the new paragraph, as if the width of the page is
greater than the actual viewable screen.

If I use the backspace key, I can recover the missing text (minus the
line-return and/or character I erased with the backspace). If I exit the file
and open it again, everything shows up normally.

If I try to click on the defective line with the mouse, my cursor will appear on
the preceding line. The last character of the preceding line (the complete line
above the visually defective line), the last character of the line appears
normally, but the cursor sits some distance to the right of the character, as if
there were a tab following the character, but using the left-arrow will cause
cursor to jump to the other side of the last character.

The large documents in question are electronic books in .html or .xhtml format
that were opened in Write/Web then exported to .odt format. It is the .odt
formatted file that causes the issue in Write.

In the current document I am looking at, the View is Web Layout, the font is
Times New Roman at 12 point. Changing the font to say, 10 point, will fix the
lines but after a while the same kind of problem will occur-- truncated bottom
lines, inability to click on the affected line with the mouse.
