PDF/A does not allow transparencies; before 3.2 transparent objects were drawn
not transparent - which users didn't like. The only alternative is to draw all
transparent layers into a large bitmap, which is what happens now.
You get a warning when transparent objects get drawn during PDF/A export. You
really get much better PDF/A results if you don't use transparent objects.
