I've de-installed the openoffice which is shipped by openSuSE and downloaded and
installed:
OOo_3.1.1_LinuxX86-64_install_wJRE_nl.tar.gz
Performing a mailmerge with that version results in exactly the same situation
as before: OpenOffice hangs until the mailmerge is complete.
This is on a OpenSUSE 11.1 machine
