------- Additional comments from [email protected] Wed Mar 10 08:42:23 +0000 2010 ------- I don't know the take of the master document in ODF, but it seems to me the restart numbering could be implemented as a property for the subdocument *within* the master document. When inserting a subdocument you could then specify to restart numbering in its list(s) (my preferable default) or continue numbering from previous subdocument. That way full control is available for the creator/maintainer of the master doument and the creators/maintainers of subdocuments don't have to take into account whether or not the document is to be used in a master document and how the numbering should be handled in the master document. just my 2cts.
