Open an empty openoffice document, start, programs, open offfice 3.2 and select Openofiice.org Writer Now past the text. The hourglass stays there for minutes without doing ?????, so I call this a hanging application. When this is the case you can't open a second writer process. The only way to get out is to close the application with the cross in the upper right corner. When you restart the writer it comes up with a openoffice document recovery tool.
