Sometimes - and there does not appear to be a particular set of circumstances - the keyboard mapping will be changed by Writer to the English keyboard map. Obviously, as soon as I realised what was happening, the solution was simply to reset the map on the task bar. It will still "randomly" revert to the English map so something is wrong.
