For "Ascending" or "Descending" (without custom sort list), the field's sort order should be set, instead of "manual". This can be checked in the field options dialog, and the field will remain sorted if entries are changed or added. 2. When a custom sort list is selected, the entries that are not in the list should still be sorted by collation order, not plain ASCII values.
