2005 -------
If the system clock is very badly out (in this case January 1 1904), the OOo    
GUI fails to refresh properly, but only shows buttons after they are pressed.   
 
and only shows the actual text lines of pulldowns. All GUI response is also    
extremely slow. As soon as the clock was corrected normal performance was    
restored.    
   
(As I guess I would expect that date < Jan 1 1970 is the critical point.)    
  
System summary:    
iBook G3 (600MHz / 384Mb)    
Debian/Sarge with OOo from Debian packages.    
  
P.S. I've put this in at the default P3 because although it renders OOo 
unusable, the circumstances (corrupted PRAM from OSX upgrade + no network 
connection on boot) makes it a very unusual circumstance to arise.
