Although I couldn't reproduce the segfault, I believe that the underlying issue is still present. In particular "Paste" is still selectable as an option after the clipboard has been cleared (the method I am using to clear the clipboard is detailed at https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-utils/+bug/591498).
