I just realized, thanks to Regina Henschel, that there is already a way to do
this. Just for reference this is how to do that:
"Doubleclick the chart to bring it into edit mode. Now you find an icon in the
toolbar showing an A with an up-down arrow. That icon is for the command "scale
text". Switch it on. Now font size will adapt nicely when changing the chart
size."
Therefore, I resolve the issue as fixed.
