Might be an idea the use of "signs" to identify 
the text to be formatted with a different style.
e.g.
Bold    ->  @[text]
Italics ->  @(text)
This could also be used in the concordance file.
e.g.
text;@(text);;;1;1
or
texttext;text@(text);;;1;1
