Open/create document 1. Open Insert Field dialog. Open/create document 2. Save these (non-empty) documents. Close Openoffice. run soffice doc1.odt doc2.odt The two documents should open. doc1 should have the Insert Field dialog open, but it may not be visible. Try moving the cursor to doc2.
