I'd like to second this motion. Just like the author of this bug report, I can
see that Impress does not provide the same level of date/time format
customization as Writer.

This is my setup (although this issue clearly pertains to the design of
Impress):
OOo-dev 3.4.0 DEV300m87 (Build:9522)
Windows Vista Home Premium - SP2
AMD Turion Dual-Core RM-75 2.20 GHz 3GB RAM 32-bit

The way I see it, two related issues are being identified:
1. Impress does not support user-specified date/time formats (Writer does).
2. Impress does not provide ISO date/time format (YYYY-MM-DD) (Writer does)

Attached you will find screenshots comparing the functionalities in each
program. In case you need them, these are the steps to follow in Impress:
1. Create a new document in Impress.
2. From the main menu, select Insert->Fields…->"Date(fixed)". Note: any
date/time format will suffice.
3. Select the newly added textbox and select the date field. (An easy way to
accomplish is to do a "Select All"). You'll see that the field, which normally
is shown with a light gray color, now appears with a darker gray color, because
it's selected.
4. Right click on the selected field and you'll see that the available formats
don't include the ISO format.

Because Impress doesn’t support user-specified date/time formats, the only work-
around I see for the ISO issue is that the “fixed” option is used by using the
date manually (Note that Impress won’t automatically update it when the
document
is opened on a different date).

As a follow-up test, I looked up what type of custom date/time formats are
supported by MS PowerPoint and found that it lacks the same functionality that
Impress lacks. (used MS PowerPoint 2007 SP2)

I would venture to infer that this is the reason that Impress lacks this
functionality, which is understandable. In my opinion though, this would be a
good opportunity for Impress to add a unique feature that will help OpenOffice
users and provide more customization than MS PowerPoint.
