The original problem apparently fixed for a quite a while as the popup dialog
is now automatically
positioned above, below, left or right of the misspelled text depending on
where room is available.
There are still some problematic scenarios where the new method still fails.
Please see the screenshot in
the next comment. I guess in these cases it would be better to overlap with the
misspelled word than to
be clipped.
