1) A bug does not become less of a nuisance only because it is a consequence of
a design decision.
2) The current behavior is not transparent for the user. If he has two
paragraphs a and b, formated by styles A and B respectively, and copies a
substring from paragraph a into paragraph b, why would he expect B to be
replaced by A? And similarly if he copies the substring and pastes it outside OO
Writer, why would he expect A to be reproduced in the new environment, too?
3) OO Writer (like any other text processor) makes a principled distinction
between the paragraph and inline text and reproduces that distinction, among
other things, by two corresponding categories of format styles. Some of the
attributes of the paragraph (e.g. its font size) percolate through to the inline
text, but others (for instance, indentation) don't. Clearly the indentation is a
property of the paragraph as a whole, not of each of its elements. The same goes
for the numbering. In other words, OO Writer's design is currently inconsistent
in that respect.
