I have the following task: take two documents and try to match the use of
string A in one document to
the use of string B in the other.
It turns out that you can open document window 1, and get the Find/Replace
dialogue window and fill
in the search string A, you then open document window 2 and the first
Find/Replace dialogue window
disappears so you get what you think is a new Find/Replace window but which has
string A already
filled in. You instead fill in string B, and perhaps you add a string C as
replacement string. Now, if you
bring up window 1, the second Find/Replace window disappears, strengthening the
impression that it is
a separate one, especially so as the "first" Find/Replace window does not have
the replacement string
filled in, BUT, the search string has changed to B (easily missed).

So, there seems to in fact only be one Find/Replace dialogue window, but its
visual behaviour is that of
a separate one for each document window.

The enhancement I want is that each document window in fact has its own
Find/Replace window, so
that it is possible to search for different things in different windows in
parallel. Failing that, it should
be made clearer that there in fact is only a single Find/Replace window, by not
moving it around when
different document windows are brought to the foreground and not hiding
replacement strings that
have been inserted.

I am running NeoOffice/J 1.1 Release Candidate, patch 3, on OS X 10.3.9.
