There is no licensing violation as long as the result of linking the GPLed
library into something is GPL.
Since the LGPL allows re-releasing under the GPL, there is no legal problem;
the resulting build is
GPL.
Maybe there should be an
AC_MSG_WARN([Using agg 2.5 puts the resulting build under the GPL license only])
instead of erroring out? (That's what e.g. ffmpeg does if you tell it to link
to GPL libraries)
Most people don't care that the resulting OOo build is GPL, given we don't use
GPL incompatible
plugins and release our modifications anyway.
