on my apple box:
> whereis mktemp
/usr/bin/mktemp
> mktemp -p
mktemp: illegal option -- p
usage: mktemp [-d] [-q] [-t prefix] [-u] template ...
mktemp [-d] [-q] [-u] -t prefix
that's why i put in this -t switch.
seemed to work for me.
do you have something special installed,
like a GNU mktemp that is first in the PATH?
