2005 -------
The nonprinting characters (spaces, breaks, ...) are always displayed in the
current text color. It would be nice if the user could assign a different color
to them (e.g. via Tools > Options > OOO > Appearance > Custom Colors). A
document with black text and blue nonprinting characters is much easier to
handle and better readable than one with all in black.
Note that this is also the default in Indesign, e.g.
