------- Additional comments from [EMAIL PROTECTED] Sun May 15 06:03:39 -0700 2005 ------- This refers to both 1.1.4 and 1.9.100. If I open a brand new spreadsheet the cells are formatted to Number by default. However, if I write e.g 2.1 in a cell and press Enter or Return, it is automatically reformatted to date and the value changes accordingly (05.02.01 in OOo1.1.4 and 2005-02-01 in OOo 1.9.100 - original settings which I did not change myself, they are different but why?). I think a cell formatted either this way or that, should remain so, come heaven or hell, until they are reformatted by hand. Alternative: there could be a "General" option in which case the cells may be clever if they wish to and try to recognize what has been written into them (text, number, date etc.) but otherwise they should stick to the formatting as requested above.
