2005 -------
I have been trying to open a ".txt" file having raw data from DNA Microarrays
with "Calc" (Spreadsheet). But instead it opens up "Write" and opens the data
there, which is not what I want. In "excel", when I open this ".txt" file it
properly opens in a "excel" worksheet with all data properly organized, then I
save it as ".xls" file and it always work. This is a serious issue. I tried all
possibilities, like importing the file into "calc" and exporting to "calc" but
nothing seems to work. It always opens in "write" by default.

As a result I have to first convert the raw data to spread sheet using "excel"
and then open with "calc" and then it works fine. This is an unnecessary step as
well as not letting me stop using "excel" completely and switch fully to
OpenOffice. The issue was ther in OOo 1.1.4 and older versions and is there in
2.0 (Beta) as well.

Please help!
Thanks
-Tarun
