I downloaded version 1.9.100 and noticed that it is now possible to run VB
macros in the calc/spreadsheet program. Nice work! I work at a company which
develops "software" for the Canadian government. This software is free (as in
beer) and is used all over teh world to evaluate the potential for renewable
energy projects. The act that it is free is especially useful because it is used
in developing countries. Unfortunately this software comprises of a set of
visual basic macros and therefor in order to run this free software, you need to
buy that incredibly overpriced peice of software which includes Excel. I tried
running one of our modules in version 1.9.100 and it very nearly works
perfectly. There are some display problems and problems with "external links"? I
do not work on this software as I prefer to deal in real computer languages :)
but I figured that this tool would be a great thing for Open Office to support
and also it might make a good testing case. The software is available at
http://www.retscreen.net for download. The macros are protected but I am
reliably informed that the protection is not tought ot break should you need
extra help debugging. I will continue to test these modules on future versions
and report back. I am also pushing to get the Canadian government to officially
start supporting development on OO so that we will be paid to debug our
"software" running on your software.

Hope this is of interest to you and you're doing a great job.

Thanks,

Nick Robinson ([EMAIL PROTECTED])
