------- Additional comments from [EMAIL PROTECTED] Mon May 23 18:54:08 -0700 2005 ------- EDIT CHANGES COMMENT function in 1.9.91 lost in 100 & 104 - functionality in 1.9.91 is missing from 1.9.100 & 1.9.104 IMPORTANCE: The commenting feature is essential for anyone seriously involved in development or editing of a manuscript. IN MS WORD: This feature is excellent because it permits different authors/editors to make changes in the text and insert identifiable comments without taking up text space in the actual manuscript. The comment point is highlighted in yellow and placing the cursor over the highlight opens a box showing the text of the comment. IN OO 1.9.91, comments can only be entered where an actual change is made in the text...Word is better in that it permits comment entry at any point in the manuscript. Comments should be able to apply to both meaning AND text changes. IN OO 1.9.100 and 1.9.104, comments entered in 1.9.91 (or 100 and 104) do not appear. IN ALL 3 VERSIONS, comments created in OO do not carry through to PDF copies, but MS WORD created comments do function in PDF. Neither do comments function if the file is viewed in MS WORD. These deficiencies in OO Writer mean that everyone in a group who wants to edit and comment on a manuscript, can only do so if all members have MS Word. Edit comments created in OO cannot be seen in MS Word or PDF copies. OO WRITER NEEDS A TOOLBAR FOR EDITING/COMMENTING TOOLS AND BUTTONS, AS IS FOUND IN MS WORD. Otherwise, you are doing a great job. I thank you very much for your efforts. --------------------------------------------------------------------- Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker.
