I am now using 1.9.79 snapshot now and have not reproduced this problem to my best recall, but if I see it again I will reopen. I think you can close for now if you are not seeing the same thing with green on black background and serif fonts. You are right my RH9 is probably too old as well. I'll look at other issues too.
