The summary line should have been "Named character styles...". Yes, it would be great to have named character styles in a presentation. I always use rich formatting on slides to make it more easy for the listener to match corresponding entities by using the same color/formatting for words or phrases dealing with the same thing. Since the number of colors, which can easily be distinguished from each other, is limited, it's sometimes necessary to change the formatting-meaning associations.
