------- Additional comments from [EMAIL PROTECTED] Mon May 30 07:39:28 -0700 2005 ------- It looks like the root cause was in the X11 server's DAMAGE extension https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1204, where the x-advance width of the drawn text was ignored (fixed by https://bugs.freedesktop.org/attachment.cgi?id=1360 ) Disabling the RENDER extension got rid of the problem because the DAMAGE extension depends on RENDER (see https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1361#c11). Thank you US! The problem in the Xorg server was fixed in their 6.8.99.x releases.
