@cgu: turning hardware acceleration down to "None" in the Troubleshooting tab
(reached via Desktop->Display Properties) helps a lot on all transitions. It is
still not as smooth or fast as I would like but much better.

@thb: not sure if that issue is related as Impress has not crashed, even when I
cycled through all the transitions (via the Task Pane) a few times in Normal
view (this shows the same problem). My driver version was Catalyst v4.12, I just
updated it to "CATALYST 5.3(v8.111)" but (with hardware acceleration back on)
the problem still exists.
